ABOUT
During my internship at Moong Labs, I had the exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of an addictive free-to-play hyper-casual endless runner game called "Way Above." As an Intern Game Designer, I played a pivotal role in shaping the game's concept, design, and overall experience. The project spanned four months, from June 2015 to September 2015, and was designed for both iOS and Android platforms.
In "Way Above," players are invited to embark on an exhilarating 2D endless runner adventure, where they must skillfully control two tiny copters to avoid obstacles while soaring through a free fall universe. The game's innovative two-tap control mechanics allow players to increase and decrease the height of the copters, enabling precise maneuvering and evasive actions.
The gameplay centers around the concept of survival in the open sky. As players climb higher and higher while suspended on a rope connected to the two tiny helicopters, they must deftly control the elevation of each copter to dodge oncoming obstacles and collect flying gems. Each successful maneuver earns players valuable gems and propels them to new heights.
Throughout the game, players encounter a range of thrilling power-ups that grant them an edge in tackling tough levels and achieving higher scores. The pursuit of more gems unlocks exciting and challenging levels, encouraging players to push their limits and explore the endless sky.
"Way Above" offers an addictive gaming experience, combining intuitive controls with fast-paced action. The friendly team of tiny copters provides a helping hand, ensuring that players keep floating above the clouds and stars in this mesmerizing free fall universe.
As an Intern Game Designer, I actively contributed to the project's success by pitching the concept and crafting detailed game design documents. These documents served as a foundation for the development team, outlining the mechanics, level design, and overall flow of the game.
Additionally, I played a crucial role in UI design, creating visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces that enhanced the overall player experience and complemented the hyper-casual nature of the game.
During the development process, I collaborated closely with the talented team at Moong Labs, contributing my ideas and creativity to shape "Way Above" into an enthralling and enjoyable endless runner game.
While "Way Above" is no longer available on app stores, the memories of my involvement in its creation remain cherished. My internship at Moong Labs was a valuable learning experience, providing me with hands-on exposure to the game development process and the world of hyper-casual gaming. The skills and knowledge gained during this internship continue to inspire my passion for creating captivating gaming experiences.
