ABOUT

During my internship at Smartcloud, I had the incredible opportunity to contribute to the creation of an engaging puzzle game called "Bob Boom." As an Intern Game and Level Designer, I played a pivotal role in shaping the game's mechanics, levels, and overall experience. The project spanned three months, from June to September 2014, and was developed for both iOS and Android platforms using the cocos2d engine.

In "Bob Boom," players find themselves facing chaos caused by strange aliens attempting to invade Earth. As a player, your mission is to stop the alien invasion by skillfully using an arsenal of live bombs to explode them. Much like the popular Angry Birds game, players can aim and launch the bombs, demolishing structures and defeating the aliens.

To add depth and excitement to the gameplay, "Bob Boom" features a variety of power-ups that players can master to boost the potential of their bombs. Among these power-ups is the mighty Nuke bomb, a heavy-loaded nuclear weapon capable of destroying almost anything in its path. Acquiring this formidable weapon grants players an edge in overcoming even the toughest levels.

The game boasts 60 meticulously crafted levels that present unique challenges and obstacles. As the Level Designer, I designed these levels on paper and then incorporated them into the engine, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable gaming experience.

To provide a sense of progression and balance, I created essential documents such as the Level Progression Document and the Game Balancing Document. These documents helped shape the game's difficulty curve and ensured that players would find each level increasingly engaging and rewarding.

With its easy-to-learn mechanics and entertaining gameplay, "Bob Boom" promises players a fun and challenging experience. The game encourages players to use their wits and strategic thinking to conquer the extraterrestrial invaders and defend Earth from the alien onslaught.

As an added social element, "Bob Boom" allows players to compete with friends and strive for a spot on the leaderboard, adding a layer of friendly rivalry and motivation to achieve higher scores.

Throughout the development process, I collaborated with the team at Smartcloud to create an exhilarating and adventurous experience for players. As they progress through the 60 levels, they unlock new realms of aliens, each offering exciting and challenging gameplay.

While "Bob Boom" is no longer available on app stores, the memories of my involvement in its creation remain vivid and memorable. My time at Smartcloud was invaluable, providing me with hands-on experience in game design and development, especially in crafting mechanics inspired by the immensely popular Angry Birds franchise. This experience laid the foundation for my future endeavors in the gaming industry.
